Got an alexandrines at the start of this year, so it has been 3 months almost 4. He is parent raised, so I have been training him and building up his confidence. However he still just doesn't want to progress. He steps up, take treats and that's about it... Now I'm stumped on what to do with him  I cut his wings to try stop him from flying away when he doesn't want to deal with new this, but he still can. Mum thinks I should catch him at night and hold him, so he learns that we aren't going to hurt him, but in trying least invasive. I'm only considering that option because I know it does work.
Any positive advise would be great!

From my knowledge (moderators correct me if I'm wrong), parent raised birds are more difficult to tame down. It takes quite a bit of extra effort in comparison to a hand raised bird. However, I don't think it is an impossible feat. I believe the best option would be learning how to clicker and target train the bird. Training styles like this assist with bond building, but is also a bit more hands off and allows the bird to move at its own pace of comfort. There are plenty of good YouTube videos on the subject.

As far as catching the bird at night...I wouldn't necessarily follow that advice. It seems logical to the human mind, but it will terrify the bird.

Whoops, I forgot to mention that... I've tried clicker training and he understands but isn't that interested to go further than up and down the perch, and turning around.

He's about 5 months old... Would his age have anything to do with it?
