I have alexandrian parakeet & only about 2 months old, she likes a tea very much, and my baby is completely weaned and started eating on its own. She wo'nt have anything other than Tea. I tried feeding her formula baby food, however she will have maximum two spoonfull and run away. I tried pomegrante, bananna, but she will just bite but if see that we r drinking tea she just behave just she wanted that tea.Please help.

P.S. It is impossible to force feed her. She will puke everything out if forcefully put in her mouth.

I'm confused by your post. If he's weaned and eating on his own. Why are you still feeding formula and drink tea and you must force feed???? What exactly is he eating on his own???? You need to slow down with the fruit feeding as you should NEVER force feed. You let him decide when he's ready to eat it. I just put the fruit dish there and let them decide. Things can be enforced down the road as I don't push them when they first wean.

Please explain those questions to me so I can further assist you!

If she was properly weaned she should be eating on her own.

Do not give her Tea. She will get hungry and even if it takes her a full day, she will eat once she understands that Tea is no longer a part of her diet. Tea generally isn't good for parrots, depending on the tea, it can have caffeine amongst other things that can be fatal to parrots if enough is taken.. (Also do not give coffee, chocolate, or milk)

Like everyone else, I am utterly confused. Please do not try to continue to force-feed your bird, she could suffocate from having food shoved down her throat, and also grow to dislike you, which could in turn cause her to dislike anyone of your gender. She may also end up absolutely HATING fruit, because she's forced to eat it when she doesn't want to.. I know I would!

Carefully rethink your questions, and then ask again when you can give us all your facts and concerns straight out.. ^^

We gave our Alex blueberries when he was being weaned because they are easy to eat and a good size. Probably a good amount of sugar to help give them energy when they're young.

Tea is not good for birds and hot tea is even worse. It can burn her crop, which could be fatal or it can cause a bad reaction in her beak, which will cause it to peel and look bad. So please don't allow your baby to go near your tea cup again! I know how hard it is because my pair of Alexandrines did this when they were young. It was impossible to hold a cup and not have two very excited birds trying to dive into it! Nevertheless, they had to learn (by being put away in their cage) that greedily flocking onto a human's cup is naughty and won't be tolerated. They still try to drink tea or coffee when they think I'm not looking, but I always am!

Secondly, it's amazing what a bird will eat when it's hungry. Don't force feed her: you can cause all sorts of problems that way. Just leave the food for her and she will eat when she's hungry enough.

Yes, I agree, show him that you are eating the fruit and really enjoy it. Also, DO NOT GIVE HIM ANYMORE TEA. If you want to give him tea, make sure it is decafinated tea with no sugar.
