A Tokie update....

We have now had Tokie about a little over 2 months.....we really enjoy her, and every day, see changes in her and her attitude.....she is getting as used to us as we are her....although she still doesn't want us to touch her, as in petting, but she now doesn't yell or squawk if I pass and rub her tail. I now sometimes hold the bowl for her to eat, and make sure my finger is touching her, and she doesn't freak out, like she used too... that is now our morning routine, after I clean and fill her water bowl she will come down to drink from it while I hold it....and the same with her food....(she eats also inside her cage, off and on the rest of the day) We are in the process of making her an enclosed area of her own, on the back patio, off of our guest room....my husband has been making her a play gym.....that is coming along nicely....just needs the parts now, to hang the toys on....I will try and post pictures.... she has quite a personality, as we are discovering!!!! as we listen to her, we laugh at her constantly.....she has now earned to bark JUST EXACTLY like our smallest Chihuahua...I recorded it and when people hear it, say it is Nellie....I tell them no, it is tokie, they are shocked...and she now crows like a rooster (we have roosters in the neighborhood, here in Mexico) and she laughs!!!!!!she mutters all day, and barks inbetween, and at night, I swear she now trys to say good night, becasue I tell her goodnight, and that I love her.....and she mutters 2 things.....as soon as we get her enclosure done, with her play gym, I will take more pictures....and we are defiantly going to get her a larger cage next time we go to the US, unless we travel to a larger city, where we may find a big pet store.....

well, it isn't finished, it is a work in progress, but almost done, he is building a table for it to go on after scouring all over town for a tray of some sort larger enough.....to no avail.....please anyone tell me if I am wrong in feeding her in the mornings like I do, by holding up her bowl to her.....but I feel it is getting us "closer" to her, more so that she has had before.....I can feed her by hand also, and she will take food gently until she wants no more, then she just goes gently for my fingers instead, and I tell her "no!! Becasue we have some construction work going on in the kitchen, I have spent more of the day in her room with her reading, (still chilly outside for her) and now she is up there screaming, becasue I left "her room"....the funny thing is, now we are looking at another house, and the 1st thing to mind is, "the pets"!!!!! room for the dogs, a nice big gated porch for Tokie.....and where else can we make for her, so she will be with us........just funny, now we have dogs and a bird, we are thinking about more the us!!!!!
