Poor Mr. Newt had a bad day yesterday:(. I get home from grocery shopping, and my husband tells me "I'm sorry but the newt died". I'm thinking "what, why, how?" and am sad my little buddy died. I ask him if he's sure the newt is dead, and he says, "I checked". So I go over to the tank, and he's on his little rock ledge, eye closed. He looked asleep, but I ASSUMED my husband had checked that he was in fact dead before telling me so. So I go get the little mini tank I use when I clean his cage so we can take him outside and bury him. You aren't suppose to touch them with your bare hands, but I picked him up gently, still very much assuming he was dead.

The second I put him in the mini tank he WOKE UP and boy was he pissed he had been moved! Poor thing had just been taking a nap and here we are planning his "funeral". I guess hubby saw his eyes closed and assumed that was a clear sign he was dead:20: I feel bad for touching the poor guy (our skin oils can harm their skin) and for the rude awakening. Thankfully, he is very much alive and healthy...AND my husband learned the newt goes up on the ledge to rest and be out of the water and should not be assumed 'dead' because he's taking a nap...

Oh Noooo! So glad you found proof of life before you gave the little chap a premature burial. I imagine he was miffed at being so rudely awakened. Hope he forgives you soon.

Poor Mr Newt! I'm so relieved to hear he's well and still in the land of the living. I have a soft spot for him, being a Superior Newt as he is. :D Please give him Aunty Trisha's best wishes. I won't ask you to kiss him for me (are you relieved?) :D :D :D

Oh! Thank goodness he was ALIVE after all :D whew. You made me sad there for a minute... I admit I audibly said "NO!"

I was really sad in that initial couple minutes of asking "what happened". If my gecko died, I would understand because he's decrepit and ancient, but the newt is young and healthy! I was so relived when he "came back to life" (kinda scared me though lol). I plunked him back in his tank and he went and hid in his decoration the rest of the night. He spent today up behind the filter:

Trish- I think the newer wanted a kiss about as much as I did- not one bit! Not that I don't like him, he's just pretty much no-contact period (our skin oils can actually hurt them:11:). I get all the beastie kisses I need---->:green:

Aww look how traumatized he is :( hiding behind the filter. He'll come out soon again poor guy :)
