Hey guys, I got my new bird(i posted a thread about it)and new question's pop'd up about the whol quarentining thing: First, everyone was so excited to see the bird but I told them they would have to wash their hand and change their shirts after they were done. When they change their shirts do we always have to go and take a shower to wash up? I understand we should wash our hands with hot water and soap but it would be a heck of a lot easier to let people hold him if they didn't have to take a shower.........

2nd, is it an absolute must to change your shirt?(I personally think you should but just to clarify for my brothers)

3rd: If one of my brothers goes into the room where the new bird is but dosn't hold him and then goes out and goes into the room with Peeps in it, still wearing the same shirt, would he spread any disease? Cuz the new birds "temporary" cage spot is in our tv room where we go a lot and Peeps cage is in our upstairs bathroom(not used a lot but still used)

Lemme know could you guys? Thanks. :)

Others may be able to give you a more helpful answer

In a perfect world your GC would be kept 2 blocks away in a special air controlled bubble for 2-3 months, while peeps stayed at your house. Between visiting each bird you would wash your clothes, take a bath in disinfectant, clean under your fingernails, put on your radioactive protective suit and go visit the other bird ;)

CLEARY this is not possible LOL. Honestly, the best answer I can give to you is that the more measures you take against spreading disease, the less likely it is that you will actually spread a disease. Having a shower will reduce the risk even further, but its up to you.

good luck and congratulations on your new fid
