This is Woody our 2 year old hen that so far has had two of her five eggs hatch! One yesterday and the other today. I'm pulling for her as much as the babies because last year after our first clutch, we lost the mother (Dacey) due to either a breathing issue or she aspirated food she was feeding the chicks and it got back into her lungs! Our vet did all he could but it just happened so fast!

Scary and exciting times!! I wish you the best of luck and I am sorry for your loss :( I hope you have lots of happy birdies in your future. Make sure you plan ahead for their caging situation etc.

THANK you noodles. YES! it is exciting but scary at the same time! This is only our second ever clutch so at least we are not newbies to hand feeding and taming. We already have a cage set aside for when they are old enough.:yellow1:

Keep us posted! Your tiel is adorable!

Wishing you the best of luck with Woody and the babies, and I can't wait to see more pictures!

Woody is beautiful, hope the remaining eggs hatch with viable chicks.

Deep condolences for your loss of Dacey.

A BIG thanks for all your posts guys! It means a lot. We did take baby pics at one day old but right now they look like tiny blobs with yellow hair! LOL! Will for sure keep you updated and send pictures in a few days as they start to look more like birds.

I DO have a question for anyone that has had experience with tiel babies. I want to try an experiment as far as teaching (the males) to whistle and sing. What is a good time to start trying? In last years clutch, Boo (the one born on Halloween) picked up talking and whistling from others sooner than any other.....so far.
