A one up for the humble pet shop

I know many pet shops have a bad name and deservedly so but there is a small local chain of pet stores in the area in which I live, I get some supplies from them and I got Beau from my nearest one. I am always impressed with how their birds are looked after. They are always in suitable cages for their size with a few toys, always spotlessly clean no matter what time of day I go in and with three bowls of food, one of them containing fruit. Today I went in to pick up some supplies and was served by the manager so I decided to compliment her on this, she seemed really pleased with what I had to say, she remembered Beau too and asked after him. I just thought I'd mention this as pet shops do seem to have a bad name but they aren't all money grabbers who don't care about the birds they sell.

Hear! Hear! I agree with you. I may have mentioned the little bird store that's near my office. I pick up a few things here and there from them and they trim Max's nails. They never have a lethargic, sickly or plucked bird. The birds are always playful and happy. Water is always fresh and clean, food bowls have pellets, sprouts and f&v.
