my week has been pretty rough, but this evening i had something so exciting happen! RED FLEW!!!!

i got Red about 2 years ago from someone who rescued her from a parrot hoarder ....and only kept her another 10 months or so... anyways, i went to see her a few times, had her vet checked ect. before bringing her home because she was a little plucked..i mentioned i got her a harness and the woman said "that was a waste, i've had her for over 6 months and she CAN'T fly, she has never even attempted, and i have been keeping her outside on a stand on nice days!"

ok irresponsible regardless, but yeah she was fully feathered and she had never attempted to fly her whole 2 some years here... she got spooked a few times and would just flutter downward really hard.

i always felt bad because when my ekkie would take off she would go "whooo" or "WHOA!!!"

so today she was on the java tree and we were out of the room for a bit and she came FLYING to her cage! it was a crash landing on the floor next to it but hey! Then a few hours later we were back in the living room and she came flying in to the tree!!! (another crash landing next to it but its a start!!!!

I am SO excited for Reds new found talent and i hope she progresses and gets more confident so she can use the wings she was given, and give her an added way to get rid of some energy!!!

Thanks for letting me share! YAY RED!!! I'm so proud of you girl!!!!

That's fantastic! What a great day for her and for you:) It's like she knew you needed some good news.

Thanks, it got my spirits up for sure! I even went as far as calling my husband at work lol!

she had been holding on to her perch flapping up a storm these past few months, i didn't think she had motive behind it! I am so excited though, and i have been telling Mr mango beak that he makes for an awesome teacher!
