Hello.
What portable heaters, if any do you use, or have used, to heat your birds room ? I got for my Harold 3 weeks ago a De Longhi oil filled electric radiator, which heats up nice His room, and with me being very metal conscious of late ive been meaning to ask the company what metals they use to make them. They answered back today quite simply saying not to use the heater in Harolds room, and didnt give any reason why. Could be theyre just covering their backs, but still....
He needs a heater in his room as it gets very cold.
Thanks in advance.
Joanna.

I recently got the model in the link below. Been using it for 1 month. Upon start up i placed the heater outside my house and ran it for 30 minutes. It smelled bad but that soon passed. A family member of mine with birds also got the same unit and did the same start up procedure. The only issue i have with this heater is the thermostat is not very accurate. I set mine at 65F and the room stays at 70F. I use the heater in a room that is 3x larger than what the manufacturer recommends. The heater has a built in timer and comes with a remote control. Use at your own risk. Hope the link works.

Thank you John.

Yes I have used two oil heaters (not as good as delonghi) right next to Burts cage. The oil heaters are fine to use and as already said the biggest issue after burn off is that they may land on them.

I've also used the same type heater for a few years now with no issues.

I use a similar Lasko ceramic heater. I use it in my home office where Toby the Eclectus and I hang out all day.

What I don't like is that it defaults to High power when you turn it on. You have to switch it to Low power. When I had it in another room, some folks in our house would turn it on and leave it on High. When on High, it'll just about cook anything within a couple of feet even when the thermostat is set to 68F while its warming up the room. It also pops circuit breakers on High if there is anything else on the circuit. I replaced it with an oil heater and took the cermic heater to my office where I can control it.

Otherwise, it has worked fine for us for over a year.
