A 'Happy' update

My rescue RLA, Happy, who I've posted about a few times made a great step this evening!! Lately she's been edgy, hello spring, and territorial so I've left her be. We sang together and I read to her a lot in the mean time.

So the last few days she kept coming to the door to come out but would never cross the door. Tonight, however, when she came to the door I asked her to Step Up.... And without hesitation or nipping she did just that!!! Lifted her foot and went right onto my arm.

Then, to my surprise, she stayed out on my lap with me, and calm while I read... For a whole hour! Usually after a small amount of time she gets edgy and upset, since for so many years she was locked in a cage, and we've been expanding her time comfort zone. But tonight she preened, and sang, and chattered and munched on treats we shared, and then fell asleep on my lap.

When I asked her to step up for bed, she again went right to it. She's now happily grinding her beak on her bedtime perch

It was amazing!!! I can't THANK everyone enough for all the advice and support we've gotten we're getting there!!
