Alexandrine parakeet
Our Alex is now a year and a half and going thru his first big moult, and now under his beak, instead of just grey shadow feathers, he has one or 2 black ones. So excited!
And good reassurance because he wasn't DNA tested.

How old has everyone else's alex been when they got their full ring?

My alexandrine Ozzie is 14 week old, he wasn't DNA tested either, but we could tell by the colour of his feathers and the shape of his head that he is a male. The feathers around his neck is grey since he is still a baby. The pet shop told us most of the time, male alexandrine parakeet will show their full ring between 1 to 2 year old.

Here is a picture of him I took on 1/1/2013

Aww, he's cute!

You'll have lots of fun with your Alex, it seems like their character just keeps getting better and quirkier as they get older. And very smart birds too

Ours is Monty
