A chew toy from spare parts

This is a really quick, easy toy to put together from saved parts. I used a variety of wood blocks with drilled holes, wrapped them in white paper, (Poppy's feathers are usually rainbow colored from playing with vegetable dyed toys) strung them on a SS chain with a ring at the bottom. I used big plastic beads to seperate the blocks.

Poor Poppy, she's probably thinking it was bad timing to hang the toy on the wrong side of the door right before lights out.

I like that Allee . I bought a toy similar to that once, with the candy wrapped pieces. Griffin wasn't crazy about it and used it very slowly, which surprised me.

Julie, that's were I got the idea. Piper and Twinkle love chewing the paper off small wrapped wood pieces. Poppy goes through a lot of wood blocks, there's always a few left hanging on the chains when she loses interest in the toy.

HI Guys,

Blue's up for ex (cleaned) cream cartons and their lids. He'll shred the hard plastic (safer than soft plastic) for ages and it takes no preparation at all. Just make sure you clean off all the cream first as Parrots cannot digest dairy products!! Incidentally, if you can get lactose free ice cream (it does it exist) they go wild for it!

OOOOH, Allee, I LOVE this idea!! This is something I can actually 'try' and recreate. I always have so many spare parts. No, I should say I have oodles of half busted pieces of wood chunks, and now you've given me an AWESOME idea how to re-use those.

Thanks, Doc and Wendy! I know I'm not the only Parront with a box of slightly gnawed blocks. Wendy, I was thinking of your flock when I put the toy together, it isn't easy to saw and drill holes in a mountain of lumber.
