Oh my gosh deep breaths.

I was waiting outside for the school bus to pick up my little brother. It's an incredibly windy day. Whilst waiting I saw this beautiful black crow flying around. Wow! I never see these birds around the neighbourhood, so it was very out of place.

The big boy landed on a tree and it's weight shook the branches. I saw something grey flail around and fall out the tree. Quickly, I decided to investigate (Telling my dog to go back inside) and my approach scared off the crow. On the ground was a panicked fledgling dove. I guess I shouldn't have done it, but I quickly picked it up from the ground and hurried back inside.

Right now the poor thing is currently nestled in a bunch of tissues in an spare cage that was too small for my Indian Ringneck (Update; he's still antisocial. It might be his personality) And in a quiet and dark location. I've done some reading up about finding the dove and everything says to "LEAVE IT ALONE"

I'm very scared that I did something terrible to this baby. But the weather is getting worse and I know there's lots of stray cats out there (Thanks to irresponsible owners we have a cat problem.) I have successfully taken care of orphan ducklings before.(They were indeed abandoned by their mother... The pond was drained. :( )

I don't know what my next step should be for this darling. Should I take it back out to where I found it right now? Wait for the weather to blow over?

EDIT: I can't see it's nest, and the tree is very tall.

Hi. I have been in a similar position a couple of times. I don't think you did anything wrong - as you said, there are cats and other predators. It was just your natural instinct to save this little baby!

What I have done in past situations is call my local wild animal rescue. They would often take in animals that were either abandoned by their parents, lost (fallen from the nest or the likes) or attacked by predators. Do some googling and find a rescue near you. In the mean time, keep the little one warm, and in a dark and quiet location as you have already mentioned.

I hope this helps. Thank you for saving this little one. Hopefully you can find a rescue to take him/her in!

Thank you Reeb. It's relieving to hear this. I doubt that the animal services here in Dubai would help birds (They focus more on dogs and cats and larger animals) I'll see what I can do! :D

EDIT: My little brother has quickly come fond of this little dove. He absolutely loves birds! He's calling this one "Little Pidgey"
