6 Parrot Myths Debunked

I'm glad you posted this. I used to feed the occasional sprig of parsley to my budgies which they really enjoyed (perhaps once a week or less, from my garden), but I stopped from reading one too many "sources" that claimed it was dangerous.

This one here had me cracking up:

Bonus Myth: Don’t Throw Rice At A Wedding Because If Wild Birds Eat Rice, They Will Explode
If this were true there wouldn’t be a bird alive in China. Migrating ducks and geese use the flooded rice fields each year during winter to add weight and build up their strength for their return to their nesting grounds in the North. Rice is a food that poses no danger to birds in the wild. The danger of throwing rice at a wedding is your Aunt Ellen slipping on the rice and falling resulting in a broken hip and a lot of drama.

I like the one about spinach. I knew it was safe in moderation, but it's nice to see it in writing.

Thanks for sharing the link!

I did not know about the spinach. I do agree its nice to see it in writing
The Rice also cracked me up

I did know that it was okay to feed spinach in moderation I still choose not to for two reasons there are so many other dark leafy greens that don't make problems for calcium absorption and spinach for whatever reason has always been tossed out of my birds cages where the other greens are eaten with gusto. Who knows why, silly birds!

I see in trying to debunk parrot myths we included the human salt myth.
There's no problem with a healthy human consuming salt.

I just read that in the morning today - I'm glad you shared this here! :)
