My local bird fair is coming back this Sunday. I'm super pumped to get lots of toys and perches.

I'm taking $500 to get stuff for my 5 fids... Cause no, they are not spoiled at all

I even bought a little pulling shopping cart for everything LOL.

I absolutely am! I'm actually going with a friend who dosen't have birds but loves them, and after the fair we are going back to her place so I can shower and clean all the toys. They will be left overnight to dry and I'll pick them up on Monday evening . I wash everything in hot water and vinegar solution and rinse well.

I've always been terrified of using bleach. Im afraid I'll poison them or something because who knows how much of it the wooden toys soak in and don't rinse.

Hey maybe, I can save you 20 bucks! What most tourist do around here for a roll around shopping cart is a huge suitcase on wheels! Since we usually have one of those, they work out very well!

You don't need to use pure bleach, just a few tablespoons in a quart of water will disinfect. Rinse thoroughly and allow to dry. Sunshine is great for this if you can get it. Any chlorine residue will evaporate - it's a gas at room temperature - and leave no detectable trace behind. Especially if you don't smell chlorine - your nose is exquisitely sensitive. Vinegar, lemon juice, will partially disinfect but bleach kills everything.

I have a hand held UV lamp I use on things sometimes. It doesn't kill germs, just disrupts their DNA so they can't reproduce. Porous object, things with crevices, will let germs hide from the UV light but it's a good nontoxic way to clean things when chemicals really can't be used.

You're going to have a lot of stuff to disinfect, seems. Enjoy!
