August 5th, I brought my 5-month-old Green Wing home. Since she arrived, my 10 year old Yorkie Poo has been upset . The Yorkie had adjusted to a Cockateil, but the GW was more that he could stand. I've been working with him about barking, using training techniques for sit stay and down. Crating him when I approach the GW. Trying to give a calmer environment.
She left the breeder well mannered. On August 8th, I took her to the Avian vet. She was not happy with having her heart checked. During the exam, I had two encounters with her beak. Undaunted we came home and I returned her to her cage. August 9th, I coaxed her to step up and exit her cage for a purchased stand, which I feel was not sturdy enough for her liking (its on wheels). I plan to DIY a PVC stand as soon as possible. We only had a few moments out of her cage. August 10th, I got home from work too late to spend much time with her. Tonight, August 11th, she would not step up, and would only give me the cold shoulder. I peeled a red delicious apple, and sliced half for her food bowl. she ate the apple, but would not step up. I left her alone and will try tomorrow. She seems to be eating and drinking, but I think she misses the breeder.
Any suggestions for making her transition easier?
