Orange Wing Amazon
Hi, we have been bird lovers for over 50 years. We started with a parakeet, then 2 mynah birds and 48 years ago we bought our first parrot, who we still have. She had a partner, Hugie, a blue front amazon, who died Sept 2011 at the age of 46. Our parrots are/were seldom locked in their cages. They always are/were part of the family. Our house is always kept warm for them and they move from room-to-room with us. Tiger loves to tear apart kleenex boxes especially when they are in a bag. Since Hugie died, Tiger is now doing a lot of things that Hugie did, which she never did before. We feel Hugie's spirit is with her. Tiger loves to play and likes getting hugged and kissed. Currently, she is tucked and asleep on my leg....

Welcome, I would also love to see Tiger's pictures. Looking forward to hearing more about her.

Welcome to the forum :D It's wonderful to hear of someone who has had their feathered friend for so many years. It is a rare thing for one to have had the same home forever. Tiger sounds sweet. :)

Welcome to the forum. i have a soft spot in my heart of OWAs, i have many. i have a YNA hen that i've had for 43 yrs now and several other zon for almost as long, Including a long time breeding pair of OWAs named Rod and Reel. Budgies (parakeets) are parrots, too!!!

Anyway, it's great to see another long time parrot owner! (well, a long time considering most parrot owners I know have had birds for less than 20 years, myself included - but I've had birds for over half my life now! :D always great to see people who have kept their feathered companions for many years!)

Sounds like since Hugie passed away, Tiger felt as if it was her responsibility to pick up where Hugie left off. How sweet of her! I hope Tiger and you still have many more years left to enjoy each others company!
