We recently got a African grey that hates women. Men can do anything with her but women we were told she attacks. I have petted her a few times myself and she really hasn't tried anything to attack me. She turns her head really fast after a few seconds so I stop. Tonight my boyfriend was holding her and she let me pet her for a few minutes. Is there anything we can do to help her get used to women? I have read start slow and I have been with just petting her anything else we can do?

I would go slow with her, offering her treats and speaking softly to her. Spend time being near her, but not forcing yourself on her. Let her come to you.My TAG does not care for men at all . He loves me and my daughters , but my husband and sons not so much. He will take treats from them and step up for them , but he does not like for them to touch him.

If your handling him ,then i wouldn't say he hate women. He might hate the women you got him form, but he seem to tolerate you? Just because he prefers your BF doesn't mean you can't be one of his best buds. Take it slow and leave him wanting more of your attention instead of you "pushing" yourself on him, trying to convince him your to be trusted.Let him come to you.

Someone suggested they can smell testosterone. Greybeard has never liked men; women and pre-pubic children he liked.

Here's a test; aren't there pheramones that attract the opposite sex? You might spray some male stuff on yourself and see what happens. Just don't go to the local pub...

That what they said about Cameo but Cameo loves Jean. She will go to her instead of me now mainly because I had to give Cameo oral meds with a seringe. Cameo did not like that and has been mad at me since. So now Jean is her best friend now yet I am the one who feeds and waters, bathes and plays with her. WOMEN! LOL

Might try letting you hubby losing the bird and you coming to her rescue; Like he carries her into the bath room and puts her on a perch (toilet closed)then walks out leaving her behind let her call for a minute and you come in and rescue her and tell her how brave she is and how naughty daddy is and give treats. When they are out of their comfort zone that is when they are on their best behavior (i.e. the honeymoon period when you first bring a bird home) Your hubby may always be her favorite but you can be her hero.
