My 30 days Macaw chick has developed around 14-15 yellow spots.
It's 10 days since it's happened, the spots are larger and drying
The breeder says that its heat boils and would heal
Some say it's fowl pox

The chick is active and feeding well, gaining weight and feathering too
But Iam so worried
Can any expert advice me what's to be done

Welcome to the forums, what a beautiful baby you have!

I am not remotely familiar with "heat boils" or "fowl pox" so my strong inclination would be to visit an avian vet as soon as possible. I assume your macaw is still in the custody of the breeder?

Hope all is well, please keep us advised!

Hi Kannan and others. I am wondering if you found out what these yellow spots are and how you treated them if there was a treatment?

As i am experiencing the same yellow spots with my baby macaws nearing 30 days old. If anyone can help would be mich appreciated as i was not able to book a bird specialist vet until this coming Wednesday. Thanks guys

Welcome to the forums, Happy New Year!!

Unfortunately the member has not been active since posting last year. I am not familiar with such markings and highly recommend your macaws be checked by a certified avian vet. If they are seemingly healthy otherwise and thriving, the delay until Wednesday should be acceptable. If they are not, please consider an "after hours" emergency avian clinic if available in your area!
