Thought you all might enjoy seeing my Rose's babies. Rose is a patient girl who allows me to view her chicks in the nest box. They hatched on Jan 26th and 27th.

Yes, from what I understand it is very rare. I discourage her laying and we did good for 3 years. Her last clutch was December of 2009 before these two. I don't hand feed so the parents raise the chicks through weaning.

I have been told many things by many people why parrots do not allow this. All I know is, Rose is my pet, she trusts me but I won that trust. I am very, very careful so that she does not hurt her chicks when I am nearby.

Really cute ! Suprised that she let you take a peep at them. She must really trust you.

Mama is so pretty! I love her eyering. Can you tell if the babies are male or female yet?

Any day now. I think I saw red on the oldest one's head today but am not positive. These are Solomons so the females have wide eyerings.

wow, that is amazing that she lets you in so close, what a honor!

mama and babies are beautiful, that was a real treat, thanks for sharing!!
