Hello everyone! I already posted an introduction in the new members section but i had a few questions and thought it might be better to ask them in the conure section so here it goes.

Im just curious if its normal for him to be so clingy? The ONLY thing he wants to do is snuggle under my hair and go to sleep. He is not scared of my hand at all he just much prefers my shoulder. How can i start training him if all he does is run back to my shoulder over and over and over? I want to make sure im getting off on the right foot with him and i have read that "step ups" are very important to practice and master but he just isnt interested. Is it too soon? Is he just a baby and i expect too much at this age?

He cries when i put him in his cage he just wants to be out with me but i dont want to teach him any bad habits. I do need him to be able to play independently for a few hours a day while im at school (on break right now).

He was nippy the first two days, but blowing air in his face works really well for the most part and we are just now learning to trust eachother.

Poop. All over my clothes... any ideas? Ive tried putting him back in his cage but hes too buisy trying to get out of the cage to go to the bathroom so as soon as i let him out again(even an hour later) he goes on me again. Ive tried to watch for body language but im not really all that sure i even know what to look for and it happens too fast!!

If anyone has any advice for a new mommy i would greatly appreciate it! Also please post stories of your conure when it was a baby or behaviors youve had to deal with! Anything i need to watch out for? I am a believer that prevention is better than treatment. So if there are any good articles or behaviors i can watch out for id really like a heads up!

Researched for over a year but ive learned more in the last 5 days with him.

Welcome to the forums Ann, hope you enjoy your stay.....

Yes, it is.....parrots are said to be perpetual 2 year olds, so if you think of them in that respect, a lot of things will fall into place.....

Good luck & enjoy your new green cheek.....

For my new buddy GCC, I always give her a treat when I return her to her cage. Also, make sure you don't run every time she yells!
