My almost 14 weeks old alexandrine doesnt want to eat any thing but just formula.. he has been spoon fed, he is being given corn / apple / oranges / tomato but he doesnt want to eat any thing but just formula. And keeps begging for food whenever he sees me. Any suggestions ?

Have you fed and weaned a baby before? Many times different foods need to be offered over and over again until the babies realizes it's food. Sometimes eating the food in front of the baby will help them understand.

Look around in the food section here for good chop recipes that have more variety than the few foods you mentioned trying. Variety and lots of it is very important.

Hand feeding and weaning is a critical time for a baby and it really should not be done by people without lots of experience. One thing to keep in mind parents in the wild do not go by a weaning schedule and force their babies to grow up. Each baby is different and must be allowed to wean and fledge at their OWN pace.

In over 25 yrs of hand feeding I have never weaned on any time table schedule arbitrarily written by someone else. I let each baby let me know how to proceed and at what rate they are willing to wean and they always do. There have been babies that I thought would never wean lol but they always do...when they are ready.

Now all that said you have to be feeding at the right temp and the baby needs to be HEALTHY. A sick baby will not wean right even with a slight crop infection so knowing (meaning checked out by an avian vet) is very important. Feeding formula too cold can cause the crop to slow down and lead to crop infection, feeding too hot can cause crop burns which are very dangerous and painful for the baby.

if the food you are offering is cold, the bird wont eat. my alex would not eat anything that used to get cold.. the fruits had to be warmed for it to eat... try to serve fruits warm to the temp of the formula you feed. might help.
