I can't believe we pick up our Coqui in just 10 days! We are getting very excited. The trailer is reserved to pick up her cage and stands. I am so looking forward to finally bringing her home!

Yes she is. So I will now have 2 girl macaws. :)

I thought she is. When they mature you can tell from their head. She looks like she's gonna be a sweetheart... :)

I think she is going to be a total sweetheart, too!

I do have to tell you a story. I had the current owners take her to an avian vet to have her vetted before I brought her home. Well I was sent the report and this is what I found in it:

OBJECTIVE SECTION
ABNORMALITIES
General
a bit psychotic, Pinning, lunging, very alert....

Isn't that the reaction of any macaw when they are being poked and prodded by a total stranger! LOL! I thought that was a bit much!

Here is a pic of her "psychotic" look! ;)

HaHa! Thanks Copper! I know she is going to be my mischevious one! LOL!

Mikey - I know! But really, this is an avian vet! You think they would be used to it by now! LOL!

Yea I know.....lol.....although Willie liked his last vet but not after she clipped his nails....lol...then the lunging, pinning, psychotic behavior started....lol

I'm SO very excited with you, Blanca!!!! Counting down the days with you, too. :D

Those are GORGEOUS photos of the stunning Coqui. I'm actually particularly fond of the psychotic look. BAHAHAHAHAHAH!!! :D She's got the pinning perfected.

Thanks Wendy - It's been so nice to have you along on this journey! You have been so supportive and great through the wait! :D

I actually like it too! It gives her character! LOL! :D

That's what Willie thinks too...he started screaming at the vet super loud....then he tuck his head under my chin to hide....lol

Awww...they are certainly like our kids and look for us for protection when they are scared. Gotta love 'em!

Oh really? Do the males have more angular heads and the females have rounder ones? I didn't know there might be some slight visual "tells" to hint at the gender of a Macaw! Cool to know, and I'd love to know more!

WOW! :D Congrats! She is so beautiful! 0o0 I'm so happy you have her now! :)

The males have a broadened head then females. If you put them side by side you can really tell the difference. A breeder friend told me that years ago and when I looked on my own it really shows. I have a male and female. Plus I looked at breeder pairs while at the bird fair each time and I would say to them which one is the male or female and they say I was correct. :)
