Hi there!
So i have an AGP
I believe he is 10 or 11 yrs.. He is a rehome, they told me he was about 5 years old and ive had him for about 6 years or so.
We have been struggling with seizures since we got him. They did seem to clear up for months at a time.
Hes always been a bit clumsy...
I am studying biology and am specializing in genetics and am mostly interested in hybrids. We all know that cockatoos or macaws can crossbreed, we often see harlequin or catalina macaws. But what about an amazon x conure hybrid? Or caique x pionus? Or African grey x red fronted?
The last one I...
Hey there, fellow parrot enthusiasts! I'm new to this forum, but I have a favor I would like to put out there.
I have been wanting an African Grey as a companion pet for a few years, but I have been holding off on the idea because my work schedule doesn't allow me to provide the necessary time...
Wondering what the best practice is for a new bird in your home. Do people quarantine them in a room by themselves or put straight out in the living space? The bird's final destination will be my home office. But for now I thought putting her out where we all our in the summer was a good...
This morning, I woke up to my African Grey sleeping in her box (she loves boxes, but has never slept in one all night like this), she got out of the box after a while and ate and drank as usual. Then she went to the top of her cage and took the biggest poop I've ever seen her do and it was quite...
So I'm back again.. I STILL have not made a conclusive, definite decision.. But I am getting close.
Here is where I am at. The same breeder I am talking with has just taken in 3 adorable little baby Timneh African Greys. Of course she told me, and of course I went and met them, and of course I...
Hello! I am new to the forum and I was wondering if someone can help me in making a decision. I am so head-blown as to what to do here. It has been over 9 months and I am still undecided. But more time spent deciding and planning will help me make sure I provide my new baby with a good home.
I...
Edgar is now about 6 months old, he's doing amazingly well and I love him ^_^ he's mimicking whistles and clicks, and he loves to hang upside down and wrestle with my hands. I'm going to start harness training soon, he loves relaxing outside on our screened in porch, and I know he'll love...
I'll be getting my hand fed baby Timneh grey Edgar in 2-4 weeks.
I was hoping that once it warmed up and we had bonded a bit I could take him with me on occasion.
There's a park near where I live that would be perfect for him.
how do you think I should go about exposing him to different people...
My family is Currently awaiting the arrival of our second parrot ^_^ (our first being our Sun Conure, Skittles)
His name is Edgar.
I first met him a few weeks ago when he was just getting his pin feathers and still all covered in fluffy down. He was jumping in my hands and mouthing me to death...
Really simple questions and curiosity stuff...
First Question: that I am wondering if she will grab food with her foot in the future. She is about 4 months old and I haven't seen her do it yet. She will just let the food drop after a few bites. Even if she loves the food.
Second...
I have never owned a bird before.
Recently I have been searching for a small companion/pet and have seen a few local dogs needing rehomed and that sort of thing. I have always owned dogs. But there is a family that is moving out of state and has to give up their 3 year old female sweetheart...
Hi
I have very recently adopted a 3yr old Timneh African Grey. Her name is Ava.
And she BITES, okay given I've only had her for 2 days and her previous owner is a man.
I seriously need help in taming her to be mine. I have patience and a high pain threshold but a lady can really only take...
I am a new member here; I have a working knowledge of parrot-keeping and do a lot of research, but I want to get to know other keepers and get help in this special case.
This past Friday, a friend of mine asked me if I could take her African grey parrot. It had originally been her mother's...
In April of 2011, I adopted a 7 yr female Timneh, who the previous owner creatively named, "Timi." Timi was purchased through a pet store as a youngster and placed into a cage with a wild caught Timneh named "Duke" for more than 5 years before the owner gave them to the shelter. Timi and Duke...
I have been talking to a breeder in Texas about getting a CAG that I would not have for about another year. I figured this year would give me time to make the decision as to whether I really wanted to the CAG with my life style. It is something I still intend on doing in taking my time with this...
