Since I've been setting up the bird area, I decided to make some toys too. So far I've updated these acrylic boxes I've had for a while. They've been empty, but today I decided to give them for Raven and Robin. :) I have 2 different sizes, both blue. I filled them with the type of shredded paper made for bird toys, then I adorned them with some ties and beads.
My boys really aren't much into foraging (lazy lol:20:), but I hope they'll use them. Robin used to use his occasionally before.

Love it! My birds would be all over this. :)

Those boxes are great! Where did you get them? The cardboard foraging boxes do nothing for Kiwi, but I could see him having a ball with one of those. Let us know how your birds respond!

Where did you find those boxes? Those are so cool and my guys would go crazy for that as well:)

Thanks guys! I wish I remember where those came from lol. I will find out what brand they are and post it to this thread. :)

I have something similar that came filled with pieces of leather. I gave it first to Sammie and then to Sydney and you guessed it....they looked at me like "me, forage? Surely you jest!" Karen gave it to Nameless. She took one look at it and informed us it was easier to pop the top of with her macaw beak than to bother pulling the leather out through the holes.

I thought I remembered the brand, then confirmed by looking at web images of it.

It is by Fun Max/Zoo Max. :) So a known brand. Many stores and online will sell these.

That's funny Karen :). Too much for the Poi's, too easy for the Macaw...

Well it's been long enough, but the boys pretty much ignore the shredded paper, but are interested in the other parts!

Here's Raven having a little fun. He was chewing on the leather ties with beads earlier.

Awesome! I love foraging toys.

Thanks :) I just wish my boys would forage! I think it has to be taught to most Poicephalus or Pionus parrots. They aren't naturals at it LOL. It's got to be real easy.

Almost missed this thread, Julie! Only caught it through a link from another thread. Whew!

I'd hate to have missed those sweet pics of your boys and their new toy! Nice!

Thanks so much Stephen! :) Raven only likes the ties and beads (not interested in foraging), and Robin hasn't even so much as looked at his! :(

Since you mention it, I've had that problem a lot lately (missing posts when the forum is active (they go down off the new posts list before they can be seen).
What do you suggest? Go and look under each forum section to make sure we don't miss threads of interest? That's the only way I can think of.

You're welcome, Julie! And I know what you mean. Toys can be so hit and miss with our fids! Bixby has yet to show as much interest in one of his toys as he does in the plain old buttons of my shirt! Forbidden fruit, perhaps? Lol!

As for your question about missing threads or posts of interest, going to each forum section is the most reliable way that I know of to currently find new threads you might otherwise have missed. I tend to use that technique along with Active Topics and New Threads. And when tracking threads I've already participated in, I go to Subscribed Threads. Since there's an option to open it up and view more than just the newest ones, I find this subsection particularly helpful.

Optimally, I'd like to see the suggestion I'd put forth in the Suggestions Forum under the thread "Marked Threads" instituted. One of the Admins has checked into it and said they would see if it was possible via some sort of coding solution. But he did warn that such a solution would take time.
So, until then, into the individual forum sections we must go! :p
