Welcome to the forum! Registration is free, but we ask that you abide by the rules and policies detailed below.

Although the administrators and Super Moderators of Parrot Forums will attempt to keep all objectionable messages off this forum, we sometimes miss one. All posts express the views of the author, and Parrot Forums will not be held responsible for the content of any message.

By agreeing to these rules, you warrant that you will not post anything obscene, vulgar, sexually-orientated, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violating any laws. If we have missed such a post, please bring it to a Super Mod's attention. The Super Moderators are the members whose names are in purple.

The owners/Admins/Mods of Parrot Forums reserve the right to remove, edit, move or close any thread for any reason. Parrot Forums will not release people's information, i.e. email addresses, IP addresses, etc.

Here are the Posting Guidelines for Parrot Forums for which all members are required to follow. These rules are general in nature, as it is impossible to spell out every possible offense. The rules are as follows:

1. Flames or Derogatory Insults:

Flames or derogatory insults are strictly prohibited. If you disagree with another member's point of view, do so in a mature and civil manner. If someone posts to discuss their personal problems or seek help from other forum members, please do not respond unless you have something positive or helpful to add. If you find yourself being flamed or insulted by another member, please do not dignify that person with a response. Notify a moderator and let us handle it.
Suggestion: If you are particularly irritated by another member's posting habits and are constantly fighting the urge to flame them, you can click on that person's profile, and select "Add to ignore list." This will make that person's posts invisible to you.

2. Threats, Racism, or Sexism

Please keep in mind that this forum has members who live in all areas of the world; for some this means there will be language barriers and misunderstandings. They also may not have access to avian specialists or other items like certain foods, cages, accessories, etc. We ask that you treat these members just like any other member- with respect. Any comments or threads that promote or express intolerant views that discriminate or belittle someone for their country of origin, language skills, gender, race, or sexual orientation will not be tolerated.

3. Porn:

Porn is not welcome here. Porn pictures, sites, or links are and will remain strictly against the rules. While adult content is allowed in the Off Topic section, this does not include porn of any description.

4. Avatars or Signatures:

Avatars and Signatures: the same rules that apply to your posts apply to your signatures and avatars. Please keep this in mind when selecting your avatar or signature. Signatures may not be used for advertising your business, unless you are a Supporting Vendor. These will be removed by a Mod until if/when you become a Supporting Vendor.

5. Posting in Appropriate Forums:

Please post your topics in the most appropriate forum. If you post a thread that would be more appropriate in another forum, a moderator will move it for you. Use your judgment to determine which forum best suits your topic.

Posting the same thread in more than one sub-forum is not allowed; this is considered cross-posting, and is against forum rules. A Mod will delete all but one of these posts, or merge them together if they have replies.

6. Utilize the Search Function

Please utilize the Search function in order to search for previous threads that may answer your questions; there is wonderful information contained in older posts. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, feel free to post your question! If a thread you created gets little attention, give it a little time. Sometimes it takes a little while for someone who has the answer to see your post. Many people may have viewed it, but just don’t have the answer. Please don’t post your question again, but feel free to bump your original thread back up.

7. Trolling:

"Trolling", or making posts with the intention of creating problems on the forums is obviously against forum guidelines. This includes registering an alternate ID for the sole purpose of creating problems on the forums. Mods will permanently ban any who do this.

8. Sponsor/Advertiser Bashing:

Our paying Sponsors/Advertisers deserve respect and restraint. Attacking them on the board is strictly prohibited. If you have a complaint with them, you may send the information directly to an Administrator and it will be passed directly to them for action or resolution.

9. Attacking Forum Moderators:

Posting a thread or reply to question or criticize moderator or administrator actions is not appropriate in a public forum and can lead to your account being suspended. Please utilize the board's Private Message function, or e-mail, if you wish to discuss these issues. As long as you bring up your concerns maturely and civilly to the moderator or administrator in question, we will do our best to address your concerns fairly and promptly.

10. Classified Policies:

1 - You must own what you are selling. Do not post ads for friends.

2 - No retail sales or large sales unless you are a sponsor or paying advertiser on Parrot Forums! If you wish to sell retail items on Parrot Forums, you must become a site sponsor or paying advertiser!

3 - We do NOT allow personal information (phone numbers & email addresses) to be publicly displayed on the forum and/or anywhere in the user profile. The only place this is allowed is the Lost/Found Forum.

4 - NO Craigslist ads are allowed.

11. Advertising on Parrot Forums:

If you wish to advertise your business or services "this includes private messages" on Parrot Forums you must

1 Get permission from the Parrot Forums Admins

2 Become a Supporting Vendor of Parrot Forums

12. Duplicate Accounts are NOT allowed

No member shall have more than one account. If you forgot your password, you can have it reset. If you are having difficulties logging in, you can always contact Admin without being logged into your account. If a spouse, child, and/or significant other signs up, they will naturally share the same IP address. It is helpful to the Mods if they use their current member as a referrer.
This is a Parrot forum, and we are a child friendly forum, therefore we ask you refrain from choosing sexually explicit user names. Members who choose questionable/explicit user names are subject to have their posting privileges removed.

13. Links

Posting links to competing sites, forums, and other sites that sell or solicit anything is not allowed. All links to competing forums will be removed. Occasionally using the name of other sites or even posting a link to a pertinent thread or a specific item from another site is acceptable, but repeatedly referring to other related sites is considered SPAM and will not be allowed. Users are not allowed to link to other forums in signatures, posts or PM's in order to generate traffic to a competing site. This will be up to the discretion of the Parrot Forums Admin and Moderator Staff, and you may be notified if action needs to be taken.

GoFundMe links are not allowed. There was an issue in the past, and sadly this means no exceptions.

Members with a personal YouTube channel must seek permission from a Moderator before approaching others to subscribe.

14. Posting Photos of Birds with Other Animals:

Pictures of predator animals together with pet birds are not allowed on this site and will be removed if posted.

While we recognize that many of our members (and some of our mods) live in households with more than one type of animal, some who visit our site may only see the cute aspects of a bird cuddled up with a dog, cat, rat, snake, etc, without realizing the danger involved with such a pairing... or the deliberate precautions necessary to prevent tragedy. We at Parrot Forums have always put the safety of the bird first, and as such have chosen to make a ban on predator/prey pet pictures official forum policy.

This rule generally pertains to pets, as opposed to pictures taken in the wild of scenarios occurring in nature; but we reserve the right to remove any such non-domestic photos if deemed disturbing to our members or potentially harmful to the birds of this community.

15. Posting Images or Videos of Dead Birds and Animals is NOT Permitted.

If a member would like to share a story that includes dead animals, links are permitted. However, a warning must be included for the reader, allowing them to decide whether or not they want to view the gruesome details.
If these types of images/videos are found on the open forum, they will be deleted.

If you violate forum guidelines, in most cases, you can expect the following action from the moderators:

1. First offense - warning via private message
2. Further offenses for the same issue— Infraction, temporary ban or permanent ban

Please realize that the nature of the offense will determine the action taken. If the violation is extreme enough, or has been repeated enough times in the past, a member will be banned without warning.
Threads or replies that do not comply with our guidelines may be locked, edited or deleted, depending on the nature of the offense. We will make every effort to state why such action was taken via private message or moderator reply in the offending thread. For this reason, we ask that you check your private messages often. You can find out whether or not you have received any private messages by logging into your user CP. You can set your options so that the board notifies you when you have received a private message, if you so desire.

This site is NOT a public owned or government site. ParrotForums.com is privately owned and operated, so freedom of speech does not apply here.

Thank you,

Parrot Forums Staff

Thanks!

I'm gonna make the Rickeybird study this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have elected to Post for two reasons:

1. As a means of bumping this back-up the board, and

2. As a warning; RickeyBird may likely see this as a challenge.

Thanks Scott!
