Sally Blanchard Article: Your bird does NOT hate you!

This is one of her best, in my opinion. Also should be required reading. Probably been posted before, but just in case it hasn't:

Your Pet Bird Doesn't Hate You

Just have to learn to look at it from the bird's perspective.

Re: Sally Blanchard Article: Your bird does NOT hate you!

Thanks for the article. Great read and clarified some behavioral changes I've seen with buddy. All positive.

What an excellent article! We do allow for a certain amount of 'individuality' with Kiwi, but when it comes to diet, he 'follows the flock'. We eat healthy and most foods we make are safe for Kiwi to have. He sees us eating grains and pasta and fruits and veggies all the time, and (reasonably assumes) when he finds those foods in his dish, that is what he should eat too. He is a social eater, like all parrots. I think one thing people forget is when the bird sees YOU (it's perceived flock mate) walking around eating cookies and potato chips and fast food and other things the bird can't have, then the bird gets a bowl of pellets, seeds and veggies, is it any wonder the bird puts up a protest? "Thats NOT what MY flock eats!". We discovered early on, Kiwi learns by observing better than any other way of teaching.

Actually found a site for her. Amazing the information she has written. Great read

She and Sam Foster are two of my favorites...

These are the real "experts." Not these Hype based websites trying to sell train your bird not to bite packages.

The other one I really like is Tani Robar. That's the parrot trick training guru right there...

Great article, Birdman! Enjoyed and learned from all of your similar links on different threads!!

Re: Sally Blanchard Article: Your bird does NOT hate you!

Excellent! The takeaway from this and similar articles on other threads is: They Don't Think Like Us!

Unfortunately most of these links are now "404 file not found" but thank you for the names, maybe one can can still things up ...
