With some time on my hands this morning I figured I'd try and make a foraging tube for my B & G Macaw Niko. :)

Here are some of the things I bought: Piece of 3" PVC pipe, 2 endcaps, 2 assorted elbows, some stainless steel chain, stainless quick links.

Items needed for assembly: Pliers, stainless eye screw, drill, saw, hole saw.

Drill a small pivot hole before attaching the eye screw

I used 1 1/8th" hole saw. For smaller birds you can make smaller holes, and definitely get smaller PVC.

When I was done with the assembly, I ripped up some paper towels, wrapped Nutriberries in them and stuffed the tube with them.

Rather easy to make, inexpensive, and it was an instant hit with Niko :)

LOL. That's the most fun for me - POWER TOOLS!!! Nah, Tab, it's SO easy, just go super slowly, and make sure the tools are sharp, it makes the job much easier :)

As I had said, I had to make some modifications to the foraging tube, as I was too eager to drill too many holes in the wrong places. The tube was somewhat compromised in staying together, and Niko had more fun disassembling it than foraging.

The first pictures shows how I "reuse" some things from MySafeBirdStore. Their packing is THE sweetest - ever.

I used the wrapping paper to stuff Nutriberries into the modified foraging tube:

And it works like a charm now :)

Nice job. Will show it to DH, maybe will do something similar.
