hello guys i have this almost 3.5 months old baby alexan parrot, recently i have noticed the upper part of his beak is kind of ...witish colored and scaly as you can see in the picture attached, i want to know if this is normal beak growing? ...the green circle shows the beak...and the red circle shows that there are some feathers missing on both sides of his mouth (like it was when he was a baby) ....is this normal too ? your help will be appreciated, Regards.

Hello and welcome to the forum! Hope you have a wonderful time here! :)

Your baby is so adorable!

Just from the photo along, his beak looks pretty normal. Has it always been like that? From time to time, their beak can change colour. Especially young alexandrine, they have a darker coloured beak. Some sub species also have different coloured beak.
The feathers looks pretty normal too, all of the others looks very good.

But if you want to make sure, you can go to your avian vet :)

Here is photo of Ozzie my alexandrine's beak, so you can compare the two. Ozzie is 1/2 year old :)

thanks for the reply mate, well i dont know if it was always like that i noticed it 3,4 weeks ago....i dont know if its beak formation process or if its something abnormal....! and its just 3.5 months old and the ring is already appearing which is different from what i ve heard ( that the form rings after 1.5 - 2 years)

I think it's normal since when I first got Ozzie at 10 weeks, I remembered at the top of his beak was darker too. Then it slowly gotten lighter and lighter.

Yes. Their ring will start develop at a young age, when they say 1.5 - 2 years old, I believe they mean when the pink feathers starts to come out. Their ring normally will be almost fully developed by the age of 3 :)
