Hello everyone. I have a little WC Pionus that will be coming home in a couple of weeks and I'm in the preperation stage. I purchased his cage yesterday, but I need to purchase toys, perches, food, etc. I'd like to get this all done in one swoop via the net.
I'm familiar with The Bird Supply Store of New Hampshire, but do you all have a website that you reccomend/love? Maybe the products are above average, or they have the best prices?

All opinions welcome and apreciated!

Thanks in advance- Melissa

My vote, without a doubt, goes to mysafebirdstore.com The woman who owns it, Kathie, is an amazingly caring person. She always answers any questions I have right away, and you can tell she truly cares about birds. Her prices are very reasonable, and if you search around her site you can often find extra discounts. I have ordered from her three times now, and have always been very pleased! (I am in no way affiliated with this website, just a happy customer) ;)

I agree with RIO! The best bird store is mysafebirdstore.com! Your orders routinely come 2 days after placing the order! She packages them in such an awesome way looks so nice! And often adds a small toy and some candy which always makes me feel good! Also, you can use severl different codes to get 10% off your oder! This is by far the best place to order from on the internet! Chad

Oh wow! Thank you both for the reccomendation! I have looked around the website a bit and her prices are very good, and she has everything I need and more.

Yay, you guys are awesome : )

Adding another vote for My Safe Bird Store. I've only ordered from there once, but the prices are reasonable, everything was wrapped up nicely in cellophane and ribbon, and they even threw in a few little freebies. Plus, you can really tell that they choose only to stock quality items- it's nice to not have to sift through a bunch of junk. The website is also set up nicely, easy to find whatever you're looking for. And, as mentioned before, there are always discount codes and specials going.

I've also ordered from Petsolutions.com. They have a pretty good bird section, and they're a bit cheaper than MSBS (but they don't have that warm fuzzy feeling). They have many of the same things, and it's where I ordered from when I was getting my first round of supplies. It's also nice if you have other pets- we needed some stuff for our dog, so I was glad to not have to pay two separate S&H charges. Shipping was just as quick as MSBS, and free if you spend at least $49. There are also some discount codes floating around on the internet that are easy to find.

Drs. Foster & Smith also has a large selection, but I've noticed they're more expensive, and I don't like their website as much as the other two.

I would never order from Dr. Fosters and Smith! A toy purchased from them got tangled up in a bird on another forum and killed him! Dr. Fosters and Smith were notified and all they did was change the name of the toy but did not discontinue it at all!

Oh, that's so sad! I wonder what happened :( I don't think it's necessarily something that can be blamed on Drs. Foster & Smith though. Most toys out there have SOME sort of risk associated with them- which is why we should all be regularly inspecting new and especially older, worn out toys that could pose a danger.

I've been ordering custom bird toys from BirdyBooty.com! Puck readily accepts and likes ALL of the toys from them, when he was scared of toys I bought at the store. I like the way it works because if you want you can just give them an amount you want to spend and any requests you want, and they'll do them. Last order I requested half of the toys to be washable. =P

Yes BirdyBooty is great for toys! They make some awesome toys! But for food and other supplies you can't beat mysafebirdstore! And there are several codes you can use to get 10% off!

It was a rope toy that got tangled around a members amazon's neck! It's dangerous it can be blamed on them for not removing the product from it's line!

If this was the only incidence with the toy, then I would agree that pulling the toy wouldn't be practicle. There is no toy or very few toys for birds that doesn't have some sort of safety issue. The same can be said for childrens toys. It could have been a freakish accident with the Amazon and the toy. If they stopped making or selling every car that was involved in an accident with serious bodily injury or death, we would all be back to walking or riding horses. I have ordered numerous toys, supplies, cages and other things from Dr. Foster's and they have always been great.

Mysafebirdstire is most certainly the best of the lot. Kathy is a real bird person. They wrap each item separately and tie it with a bow. Then you get a very nice extra little bag of goodies for free.

I have a place I love to order food from! www.foryourbird.com they have great prices and are great guys! I live close that I can pick up food so I don't have to pay shipping and that just adds to the savings. They do have bedding and other things on the site but is mostly food. Check them out.

My favorite place for toys is BirdyBooty! They make custom bird toys, and their prices are quite reasonable for what you get! I've ordered $200 of toys from them so far and I have a lot to show for it! You can also ask for specific qualities in the toys (washable, colors, materials, etc). Puck was wary of the toys I got from the pet store, but with all of my orders from BirdyBooty he has taken an immediate liking to them, and starts to climb on them while I'm unpacking. Lol!
