This years AFA Convention on August 15 2012 will be held in San Antonio and for those who will be attending will see the new breed (not hybrid) of the Golden Macaw. The first public display since discovered in 10 years. There are 26 in the US all owned by the same person. Rumor said the first sales of the breed will be done on that day and location and they'll be approxamatley $25,000 per bird. It is all bright yellow with the yellow face feathers on the white skin patch as well. These were discovered through a pair of Blue and Gold Macaws that clutched 3 eggs and 2 were golden and 1 was b&g. With help from the AFA they were able to produce more and establish breeding pairs in the last 10 years and now are ready to go public. So get ready, I seen pictures today from an AFA director I'm friends with.

The pic I posted isn't the greatest. If you go to the website click on HISTORY at the top and you can see the parents and the first babies! They're soooo dang cute.

Love all the pictures! They are so nice!

They make me think of albino/lutino mixed! They look adorable. Same temperament as b&g's?

Thats what I was thinking. They really do look kind of albino, but the yellow is stunning. I wish they had a litte more horn coloration in the beak like the scarlet, and maybe some more coloration in the toenails. They're still an amazing looking bird no doubt.

They sure are beautiful, can you imagine the shock when those first yellow babies started to feather?!

Wow!!! That would be perfect along with my golden conure..All I need is to save up $24,999 and I can buy one..

It must be so pretty so see a bunch of those in flight..

Yup, maybe in about 20 more years they will gain in number and the price will go down so I might be able to get one with out taking a loan out on my house! Its strange that he's the first to experience this natural miracle. Seems like one or two others would have had this happen in the years they've been captive bred, or at least some in the wild would be spotted flying around by hikers or something.

I can't wait to see these birds in person....I bet they go for more than 25,000. These birds are a rare collectors dream. Color mutations amaze me in what colors come out. With these birds you can breed other unique color combinations....it is like a blank canvas.

How amazing! I have never even heard of them but they are simply stunning!
